National Film and Video Foundation Bursaries 2025

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is inviting South African students to apply for its bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. This initiative aims to support the development of the South African film and television industry by funding students pursuing studies in these fields.

Bursary Categories:

1. National Bursaries:
   • For undergraduate and postgraduate studies in film and television disciplines at accredited South African institutions.
   • Covers 100% of tuition fees and may include accommodation costs (subject to financial need and fund availability).
2. International Bursaries:
   • For postgraduate studies in film and television disciplines at accredited overseas institutions.
   • Covers tuition and living expenses, capped at R280,000.
   • Only for courses not offered in South Africa.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.
• Must demonstrate financial need.
• Must have a good academic record.
• For international bursaries:
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time postgraduate programme starting in September/October 2025.
  • The course must not be available in South Africa.
  • Acting or live performance courses are excluded.

Required Documents:

• Completed online application form.
• Letter of acceptance or acknowledgment from the institution.
• One-page motivation letter.
• Certified copies of:
  • ID (dated within six months).
  • Matric certificate or latest academic results.
• Proof of financial need (e.g., payslips, bank statements, or social grant proof).
• Breakdown of annual academic fees from the institution.

Application Process:

• Applications must be submitted online via the NFVF application portal.
• Ensure all required documents are uploaded and information is accurate.
• Incomplete or late applications will be automatically disqualified.

Important Dates:

• Closing Date: 07 April 2025, 17:00 CAT.
• Applications must be submitted at least six months before the course starts.

2. Submit required documents: Detailed motivation letter and supporting documents as requested in the online form.
3. Ensure all information is correct: Incomplete or late applications will be automatically disqualified.
