The Cape Winelands Health District invites applications for three Cleaner positions on a sessional basis. These contract roles, available in the Breede Valley Sub-district, offer a chance to join a dedicated team and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming health environment.
Position Details
- Job Title: Cleaner (Sessions – 15 Sessions, 3 Posts)
- Salary: R86.45 per hour
- Contract Duration: Until 28 March 2028
- Location: Breede Valley Sub-district
Requirements
To qualify for these roles, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Basic literacy and numeracy.
- Experience: Prior experience as a cleaner in a health environment is preferred.
- Inherent Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
- Comfortable working at heights using a stepladder.
- Capability to perform physical tasks and operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Teamwork and the ability to work independently and without supervision.
- Accountability, reliability, and professional conduct.
- Conflict management skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of machinery and equipment operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role include:
- Cleaning tasks such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and refuse removal.
- Maintaining cleanliness of garbage bins, toilets, sluices, and drains, along with windows and walls within clinics.
- Ensuring cleaning equipment is cleaned after use and securely stored.
- Assisting the supervisor with general housekeeping duties like managing cleaning and household equipment, taking care of linen, and serving patients.
- Adhering to safety measures when handling waste.
- Participating in in-service training to enhance service delivery.
