The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is looking for a dedicated Farm Foreman to join the Makhathini Research Farm team. This re-advertised position is an opportunity to be involved in agricultural and infrastructure management while contributing to research and production activities.

Requirements

- Education: Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a farming environment.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is essential.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with basic farming activities and health and safety measures.
- Ability to use farm tools and operate equipment.
- Strong communication, listening, reading, and time management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Farm Foreman, your primary responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the implementation of routine activities related to research and crop production.
- Ensuring the execution of livestock production and breeding activities.
- Performing general maintenance activities, including cleaning facilities, disposing of waste material, and alien weed control.
- Conducting routine infrastructure tasks such as maintaining or repairing roads, canals, dams, drinking troughs, and fencing.
