Are you looking for reliable and rewarding driver jobs in Cape Town? Mediclinic Panorama invites qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Porter/Driver, a critical role in ensuring smooth hospital operations and high-quality patient care.
Main Purpose of the Job
To provide efficient and safe transportation and escort services for patients, medical files, equipment, and other hospital materials. The successful candidate will also contribute to emergency evacuations and routine delivery services within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Transportation: Escort and safely transport patients between departments or units within the hospital.
- Hospital Driving Services: Deliver and collect critical items including blood, medication, and documents using hospital vehicles.
- Evacuation Support: Assist with emergency evacuations in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Routine Deliveries: Conduct daily internal and external pickups and deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 10 or equivalent (Essential)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience with a valid Code 08 driver’s license (Essential)
- Client service/public-facing experience (Essential)
- PDP for transporting people (Preferred)
- Experience working in a healthcare setting (Advantageous)
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Full understanding of road safety regulations and GPS/map navigation
- Knowledge of infection control, cold chain protocols, health and safety, and evacuation procedures
- Familiarity with hospital logistics and medico-legal requirements
- Proficiency in English (read, write, speak)
- Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
- Two-way radio communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills, patient etiquette, and telephone manners
