Purpose of the Learner Fire Fighter Programme

The purpose of the programme is to allow successful candidates to participate in and complete a structured learnership in the designated field.

Learners will receive practical workplace experience supported by structured or institutional learning.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Completed Grade 12, Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • A pass in Technical Mathematics, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
  • A pass in English or Business English
  • A pass in Technical Science or Physical Science
  • A valid Code B driver's licence or higher
  • Be between 18 and 29 years old
  • Reside in Sasol's local communities in Secunda or Sasolburg
  • Be able to pass the firefighter fitness assessment
  • Be able to pass the required stress and fear assessments

Required Assessments

Candidates must be able to complete controlled assessments involving:

  • Working at heights
  • Confined spaces
  • Fire exposure
  • Cat ladders
  • Firefighter fitness activities
