Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate MBChB, MBBCh or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- Independent-practice registration after completion of community service.
- Proof of current HPCSA registration for 2026/2027.
- Appropriate experience for the appointment grade being applied for.
- Experience in district or regional hospital anaesthesia.
- Experience in obstetric and gynaecological emergency theatre work.
- Ability to perform commuted overtime and after-hours duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise junior doctors, including community-service medical officers.
- Attend morbidity and mortality meetings, administrative meetings and hospital training.
- Complete medico-legal documentation, including death certificates, accurately and on time.
- Improve patient care by providing appropriate clinical management.
- Reduce medical litigation by practising sound clinical ethics.
- Implement and monitor adherence to the Ideal Hospital Framework.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient management.
- Ensure that administration and medical record keeping are completed correctly.
- Participate in commuted overtime and after-hours duties.
- Provide continuous and uninterrupted patient care.
